Ca Pass road tunnel opens to public traffic

On August 21st, Ca Pass Investment Joint Stock Company held opening to traffic ceremony, officially put Ca Pass Road tunnel into operation. Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Thanh Quang - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Le Dinh Tho - Deputy Minister of Transport; Mr. Nguyen Tan Tuan - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Council; Mr. Dao Cong Thien - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa provincial People's Committee and leaders of Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen Provinces.

Started in 2012, the Ca Pass Road Tunnel Project is located between Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces with a total length of 13.19 km. Of which, Ca Pass road tunnel is 4.125m long, Co Ma tunnel is 500m long tunnel. Both of these tunnels are modern in size and equipped with two parallel tunnels, each with two lanes to ensure the speed of 80km/h. This is the first large-scale road tunnel work to be carried out in the form of BOTs funded by domestic capital by Vietnamese investors and contractors. From now until September 2nd, the means will be free of tunnels. The cost recovery for the project begins on September 3th.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Minister of Transport Mr. Le Dinh Tho said that the ca Pass tunnel operation will be shortened by 9km, reducing the journey 40 minutes compared to the pass road traffic; It contributes to ensuring traffic safety, creating favorable conditions for linking key economic zones of Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa provinces as well as promoting the development of industry, trade and tourism between Central and the south region.
